Bonnie and Joe in the “Tunnel of Love” near Uvita, Costa Rica, September 2017

We are a youthful retired couple who moved from Tucson, Arizona, to Costa Rica, in mid-2015, with our then 5-year-old dog, Marley. After downsizing as much as we were comfortable with, we shipped our 1986 Toyota 4×4 pickup truck and our remaining household goods down here in a 40′ container.

We rented a home for most of our first year here in San Marcos de Tarrazu which in the heart of the coffee mountains in an area known as Zona de los Santos. In early 2016, we purchased a home in the Southern Zone of Costa Rica, about midway between the beach town of Dominical and the Southern Zone’s largest city, San Isidro de el General. We miss the life we had in San Marcos, but we love our proximity to the beach and to our weekly organic farmer’s market (feria) as well as having a good-sized city where we can do our banking, shopping, and take care of errands.
